Potters Poultry Expand their Flock!

The UK leading supplier of poultry rearing equipment, Potters Poultry expand their flock again as part of their new operational and marketing strategy as they continue to grow in the UK and European markets.

Pullets and Equipment Representative Ceri Morris began his career in the poultry industry as Farm Manager before joining the Potters flock 6 years ago where he focussed on pullets. Ceri has worked his way up through the company and has recently been appointed to Sales Support Manager.

“I’m really excited to start my new role with Potters’, having been here for 6 years and watching it develop, I’m excited to continue to be a part of its upcoming operational changes”, Ceri Morris.

Along with Ceri’s promotion, will be new recruit Daniel Morris who’ll be joining as Technical Sales Manager covering the South of England and Wales. Daniel has gained extensive experience in sales since starting his career with TATA Steel back in 1996.

“I am eager and looking forward to some exciting times with Potters and can see the huge potential we have already”, said Daniel.

Sales and Marketing Director of Potters Poultry, Neil Forknall said: “We are thrilled to welcome Daniel to our team. His experience will benefit the business and further improve our service for poultry farmers across the UK.

Both Ceri and Daniel join the management team during an exciting time, as Potters Poultry prepare for their continued growth.

Neil continued, “This is a pivotal time for the poultry industry with continuing challenges coming from COVID-19, Brexit, and Avian Influenza. I am eager to ensure Potters works closely with its customers to improve industry standards by investing in our staff and partners to facilitate this”.

New Team Members

Potters Poultry welcomes new team members this spring

Following the successful launch of our LowMax Aviary in December, and with 2021 set to be a great year for the business, we’re excited to announce two new team members have joined us.

Neil Forknall has been appointed as sales and marketing director from his previous role as sales and marketing director at ÅLÖ. With more than 20 years’ sales experience and in-depth knowledge of the agriculture sector, he is a brilliant addition to our team and will be a key driving force in enabling our business to continue to grow.

Alongside him, new recruit Iain Campbell is joining the Potters Poultry team as pullet and equipment sales representative. Iain has an outstanding record of success in poultry feeding and nutritional management, as well as an extensive background in a range of business roles. He has UK-wide recognition and a strong knowledge of the poultry industry.

Both Iain and Neil’s wealth of knowledge and experience mean they are great additions to the Potters Poultry team as we look to build on the back of our successful LowMax Aviary launch.

When asked about his appointment, Neil said: “I am looking forward immensely to joining Potters Poultry and the new challenges that this role entails.

“This is a pivotal time for the poultry industry with challenges coming from COVID-19, Brexit, and avian influenza.

“I am eager to ensure Potters works closely with its customers to improve industry standards by investing in our staff and partners to facilitate this.”

Midwest Poultry Federation’s Virtual Convention and Tradeshow 2020

The Midwest Poultry Federation (MPF) is taking its annual convention and tradeshow online this year following the Coronavirus outbreak. This industry-first digital event is packed full of leading exhibitors and experts across the poultry industry, as well as interactive booths to visit your favourite brands. There’s also a Happy Hour in the Networking Lounge where attendees can chat with the exhibitors in real-time.

Here at Potters Poultry, we’ll be exhibiting for the 10th consecutive year and supporting as a gold-level sponsor. While we’re experienced at exhibiting in person, this is the first time we will have attended a trade show in an online format.

Not only does the event provide us with an excellent opportunity to discuss some of the key issues affecting poultry farmers, but it will also give us a chance to meet customers in a whole new setting – and that, for us, is very exciting.

At the event, the Potters Poultry USA team will be focusing on equipment, including our Open Aviary. Dan Wood, Dale Goodwin, Mark Bruland and Dawn Harberts will be on hand to answer any poultry or equipment related questions delegates may have.

But, for us at Potters, one of the most important reasons for taking part in the Midwest Poultry Federation’s Convention and Tradeshow – albeit virtually – is to showcase our continued support to the industry during what has been a very unsettled and unusual couple of months.

Like many other industries, the farming sector has had to deal with a number of challenges over the first half of this year – but this convention gives us an opportunity to look back on those learnings and think about how the industry can move forward over the coming months and years.

One of our biggest challenges has been ensuring the visual booth truly represents the business but we’re hoping to introduce ourselves to prospective clients, give them an overview of our business in a new setting which could pave the way for how trade shows, in our industry, are run for the foreseeable future.

Dan Wood, who heads up our operation in the USA, said: “The show gives us an exciting chance to see how the virtual tradeshow format works as a form of communication with our target market.

It will be interesting to see what the attendance levels from farmers are like, and in the same respect, we’re excited to hopefully see some new faces as a result of the event being accessible to everyone online.”

The MPF’s Virtual Convention and Tradeshow will be taking place between 12th – 13th August.

Potters Update

Following a restructure of the Potters Poultry family of businesses we are now in a position to provide an update and outline our future business plan.

Despite the short-term economic impact of COVID 19, our long-range plan for Potters Poultry is to continue to invest in future markets, including within our International Division.  However, to safeguard jobs and to address immediate business challenges due to a significant reduction in customer activity we have had to take the difficult decision to place one of our businesses into administration.

Activity previously undertaken through W.Potter & Sons (Poultry) Ltd will now resume through Potters Poultry Ltd which will ensure we can continue to secure continued employment for our people, support our poultry industry customers and suppliers.

We understand this change to our business may have caused some concern for all those who work with us, so we felt it was important to reassure you that this restructure has been undertaken to safeguard the long-term future for our people, customers and suppliers.  We hope that any short-term implications associated with our restructure will be mitigated through growth in the future, including from international markets, which we would hope would benefit the wider UK poultry industry.

We’d like to thank our people, customers and suppliers who have supported us through this change and shown understanding for the difficult choices we have had to take.  We are very proud of the relationships, reputation and expertise built through our 50-year history working within the poultry industry and we are committed to maintaining this as we look to our future.
